PERSONAL PROJECTS

My work does not sit neatly on a gallery wall, which has caused me to question my practice and consider where I fit into the art world. But I was working from a very restrictive definition of art and looking in all the wrong places because I am not alone in wanting to take art outside of a gallery.

Drawing on my background in theatre production, I produce sculptural textile art, which is developed into immersive, performative installations that engage the senses. My current project features wearable art made from reclaimed and recycled textiles exhibited in a theatrical setting. The addition of projection, lighting, and sound creates a sensory experience for the viewer.

I hope that the projects that can be accessed through this page will make a difference in how people feel about waste and inspire a behaviour change when it comes to disposing of unwanted materials. I aim to create experiences that stay with people after they walk away and resume their daily lives.
